I don't sell on eBay, so I'm not sure what is allowed or not, but I think you are right: once a bid has been made it is *supposed* to not change format. But I think we have all seen 'auctions' --with bids in place -- suddenly disappear as a listing on eBay because the seller, more than likely, accepted someone's 'offer' to go ahead and end the auction for an agreed-to price and all the other bidders are left in the cold. I've had that happen a good handful of times to items I was bidding on. I suspect too that is what happened in this particular auction. But, it was a good deal for someone out there....

Ebay allows you to end an auction, for any reason, if there are no bids. If there ARE bids you can still end the auction but they ask if you wish to sell to the highest bidder. If there is a bidder you may be charged a final value fee even if you don't sell the item to the highest bidder. If there are <12 hours before the auction would have ended, you may not end the auction early.

Ok, thanks for the clarification and explanation of the rules of eBay. That does help explain how some of these auctions go.

Someone got a great deal on a skill-level Astron Farside BIN a few weeks ago:

What a steal !
I paid more than that for a Semroc Farside-X clone kit.

Yeah, a great deal there.

I got two like those about ten years ago when someone on eBay was selling a great many mid- to late 70s kits in brand new condition. Like they had come across a whole batch of former hobby shop stock and were selling it. But, those prices back then were not quite as good as these two went for.

Nah, keep posting. Some might look at The Dude as a decent deal on a classic rocket, but I lived through it. I tend to think of it as an insult to the intelligence of the rocketry community.
