Default Estes D.O.M. Nike Needle question

https://forums.rocketshoppe.com/att...achmentid=52397
I believe Buzz posted this a couple of years back. It's been high on my list of Estes D.O.M. birds to build and I finally ordered the parts from eRockets last week. When I went to do the dry fit, I was kinda shocked at how huge it was going to be. The instructions specify BT55 and BT20 full length tubes, but that seems like an awful lot of length. Am I just overthinking this, or is there a chance the BT55 and BT20 were supposed to be cut down some? The drawing kind of suggests that. Any opinions?

Those tube lengths sound about right.
The Estes Nike Ajax kit uses a full length BT-50 sustainer and only a slightly shorter BT-55 booster.
I'd use 3 Nike "original" shape fins on the booster instead from the Nike Ajax or 4 Nike Smoke fins instead of what this plan shows.

Yes, there is such a thing as NORMAL
, if you have to ask what is "NORMAL" , you probably aren't !

Failure may not be an OPTION, but it is ALWAYS a POSSIBILITY.
ALL systems are GO for MAYHEM, CHAOS, and HAVOC !

Step 5 refers to the body tube as a BT20 B. Perhaps there may a .mistake on the BT 55 as well.

Good catch. Reading would have been a great path for me to follow.
8.65" seems more in line with what I was expecting.

The last catalog that offered a BT20B was 1977 so that fits. BT55 was only available in full length after 1971.I hope that helps
