Cutting guide for Estes BT-56 body tubes (or Semroc BT-13 or Centuri ST-13)
Is there anyone who could print a cutting guide for Estes BT-56 body tubes (or Semroc BT-13 or Centuri ST-13)?
Similar to the yellow cutting guides that Estes sells. If so, how much would it cost? Thanks for your help!

Yeah those are pretty easy to create, are you talking about the round ones that fit inside the tube, and allows you to mark Fins?

I think he means the doughnut-looking things slipped over the tube.
I wished those had markings for evenly spaced fins. That would be easier to use and more accurate for me than the ones plugged into the end of the tube. Bill

Over on Thingiverse, user Scott Mills posted a number of body tube marking guides that can be printed. Sizes include BT-5, BT-20, BT-50, 29mm, BT-55, BT-60, BT-70, BT-80, and BT-101. I have downloaded the files but haven't printed any of them - yet.
The markers are set up to go over the outside of the tube. An angled end has markings for fin placement. The opposite end is flat for cutting tubes (see attached pics from Thingiverse). The files can be found at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2872159

When faced with this problem, I always defer to the old fashioned way of doing things. Take an index card and wrap it around the BT. Pull it tight, making sure all the meeting edges are perfectly straight. Tape it or hold it, then mark with a pencil line all the way around. Then break out a new single-edge razor blade and cut along the line very carefully. Don't skimp on the sharp blade!
Works nicely, just not as convenient. Allen |

BT-56 Cutting guide with fin markings (or Semroc BT-13 or Centuri ST-13)
Quote:
Scott: That's precisely what I was thinking! Just like the ones on your site: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2872159 Dimensions are below. This cutting guide could also be used on Semroc BT-13 or Centuri ST-13. BT-56 - Outside diameter 1.346" - Inside diameter 1.304" I'd love to buy at least two BT-56 cutting guides (in case one gets lost). Feel free to email or DM me with the cost. Thanks for your help!
