Default What's Up With the Estes 2167 Mercury-Redstone?

I never noticed this before...........my Estes 2167 Mercury-Redstone kit specifications show a diameter of 1.6" and a length of 23.5". But the tubes are clearly 2" diameter, and their 10" length each is going to put the overall length considerably over 23.5".

Is there any difference between this kit and the Estes 1921 Mercury-Redstone (specs state that it is 2.04" dia. and 28.75" in length)?

Sorry for the fuzzy photos........

Joe

Yes. I believe the kit's package specs were transferred over from the old K-41 kit but never updated.

The finished length will actually be 28.75"--same as the #1921.

For some reason Estes never explained, the face card dimensions show the K41ones incorrectly instead of the proper 1921/Centuri specs. Incidentally I still prefer the old K41...that kit took some real skill to make look decent. It was a REAL skill level 5. probably the most difficult kit ever produced by Estes. The K29 Saturn 1B is a close second. The Mars Lander had to have been skill level rated by someone that builds with their feet. No way should it have been over a high 3 or low 4.

Yes, there is such a thing as NORMAL
, if you have to ask what is "NORMAL" , you probably aren't !

Failure may not be an OPTION, but it is ALWAYS a POSSIBILITY.
ALL systems are GO for MAYHEM, CHAOS, and HAVOC !
