Thumbs up Plunging ahead...

I'm starting with the Centuri information from the "Classic Kit" listing on the old Semroc page.

I'll need to cross-reference it with JimZ and Ye Olde Rocket Plans, as well.

I'll no doubt need help to fill in any knowledge gaps I run into.

Question Centuri ST-8 tubes galore

Okay, here's my first call for help.

I'm looking for assistance with the following Centuri kits:

1) Arrow 300

a) Are the body tubes ST-8 (dia. is listed as 0.91, so probably)?

b) How long is the main body tube, and are the first two stages 3" long?

2) Excalibur 2

I suspect the first stage is actually a No. 8 Booster Unit KBB-8.

a) Is the booster's outer body tube 3" long?

3) Flutter-By

The Centuri version appears to be ST-8, with an ST-7 motor tube. Can you confirm or deny this?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

.

1. From JimZ's: http://www.spacemodeling.org/jimz/centuri/cen5037.txt
2. From the Semroc website: http://www.semroc.com/Store/scripts...arts.asp?ID=570
3. From YORP: http://www.oldrocketplans.com/centu...-9/Cen_KA-9.pdf
Header card says .908" dia. That would be an ST-8. And the motor tube would be an ST-7.

I have an unopened Excaliber II and I can confirm that the booster stage bodytube is 3".

I suspect too that the booster stage is the #8 booster kit that Centuri sold as a separate item, but the parts in the bag are all 'loose'; in other words, that 'kit' of parts for the booster does not appear as a 'separate' bag inside the main kit bag.

The "fine print" is at the top of the Flutter-By page:

Outside Body Tube: Centuri ST-8 3.0" long
Inside Body Tube: Centuri ST-7 3.0" long
Nose Cone: PNC-80 2" plus shoulder

BARGeezer, thanks for all three of those links! I appreciate it!

Cheers,

Earl,

After looking closer at the #8 booster instructions, is there an HTC-7B connector (the one that goes *outside* the ST-7 tube) in your Excalibur II, as opposed to an HTC-8, as well?

Please advise. Thanks!

Jay -

Interesting: there does NOT appear to be an HTC-7B in the kit bag. I looked 'inside' the larger #8 tube, the #7 to #8 plastic connector, etc. just to make sure it wasn't hiding somewhere. Again, this is a sealed kit, but I think if that Passport staging connector was in the bag, it would be visible.

The #8 tubing connector to otherwise connect the two stages together WAS in the bag.

Earl,

Okay, thanks! I'll add that to this body tube list.

Cheers,

Today I'm looking for body tube lengths for the Centuri "Argus" 5039 / KB-9.

I remembered I had the attached PSR-78 reducer and body tube included in a multiple nose cone purchase from Mike Hellmund way back in 2001.

The ST-7 body tube is 6.0” long.

I had this one "back in the day," so I know that the two other tubes are ST-8 and ST-13, but I'm not sure exactly how long they were.

Looking at the attached .PNG file, I estimate the ST-8 at 5.0", and the ST-13 at 10.0". HOWEVER, I need somebody to confirm/deny my suspicions.

Thanks in advance!

Here's my first rough draft, which I hope will be helpful until I can make more progress on this project.

67 Centuri rockets so far, if I counted correctly.

Any feedback or pertinent comments are welcome.

Thanks!
