1:100 scale Mercury Redstone
Just got notice that Boyce Aerospace released a builders kit of the Mercury Redstone in 1:100 scale using a BT19 body tube.
Think will look good next to the Estes Saturn V |

And a 1/100 Merc-Atlas is coming soon.

That is almost ‘cute’ looking.
I reeeeeally do think they would boost their sales considerably if they offered ‘full’ kits also, or at least stocked the raw tubes so one could do a ‘one stop shop’ for the kits AND tubes together. I know it ain’t really that big a deal, but then again, sometimes, it actually is. But, they are really expanding their offerings. Earl

Boyce responded to my email.
Says that a Mercury Atlas will be released very soon. Then after that a Gemini Titan will be coming out next. |

If you buy the MR you also get $5 off the MA when it comes out.
The MR description lists the apogee as a whopping 65 ft. I would define that as sub-orbital. Like Alan Sheppard's flight. Maybe sub-sub-sub-sub-orbital. Laters.

I can propel a rocket with a RUBBER BAND over 65ft.

90 g or 3.17 oz., which is heavier than your average Big Bertha and very close to the current Estes Mercury Redstone. 65 ft on an A10 may be optimistic!

I'm thinking 3.2 oz on an A10 is NOT safe at all even in my book.
