Default What is this rocket?

Hi gang,

I was just wondering: does anyone know what is the rocket that these two super-cool dudes are holding?

http://www.ninfinger.org/~sven/rock...a/78est056.html

Was it a DOM winner? Are there plans somwhere? It looks like a neato keen slow launch 24mm monster to me!

Thanks in advance,

Phred

Agree that it looks like a Thor Agena-D but do not recall it ever being a DOM entry or winner.
I don't think any of the DOM's I have seen look ANYTHING like that one.
The guy on the right looks like a very young Wayne Gretzky with a RIDICULOUS hair-don't !

What about that neat one to our left of those guys? What is that? Good lookin, it is!
Perhaps an early Shrox rendition of an SR-71 update?

OK, so using Jim Z's website, I was able to ID following DOM winners in this picture: Nimbus, Argus II, Top Secret, Stratos, Equinox, Intruder, Tartar.

These models are all DOM plan #s 77-84. Jim Z's site has a gap between DOM plan #84 and 100. I wonder if the the unfinished model is in the missing batch?

Again, as per Jim Z, the above models appear in MRN #s V13/1 through V15/1. The MRN #s then have a gap until V38 with plan #128. (Plan 100 does not have an MRN issue listed).

Does anyone have any MRN issued from V15, 16, or 17? Did they even exist?

I can find that Vol 21 was 1981... so V15/16/17 must have been late 1970s.

Any help would be appreciated.

Phred, the last Vol 15 I have is #1 --- Fall/Winter 1975.

The next I have is Vol 17, #3 (June 1977)...It has a plan called the "Egg-Brute Renegade" by Joe Dwyer of Yuba City, CA.

After that, I have Vol 19 #1 (Winter 1979)...It has a plan called the "Eclipse" by Scott Annis of Culver City, CA.

The next after that is Vol 20 #1 (Winter 1980)...It has a plan called the "Aggressor" by Ken Davis of Cherry Hill, NJ.

The interesting thing about the Vol 17, 19, & 20 issues that I have is that they are approximately half the size of the late 60's and early 70's issues. They remind me almost of "pamphlets" or "Readers Digest"-sized publications.

One of these days, we really need to get a comprehensive MRN archive somewhere.

Hope this helps!
