Default Shock cord retainer wire for Cox Honest John

The shock cord retainer wire in the body of my Cox Honest John is missing, any suggestions on how I can replace it, or do I have to do something different? I don't have a way to measure the size of the wire needed, or should I just use an external mount?

I would try a lite weight steel fishing leader.

Default Honest John shock cord retainer wire

Thanks for the tip Neil, but I think i may have solved my own problem,I bent a small paper clip into a similar form and managed to get into the body with out damaging anything, and it looks as if it's gonna work out alright.I want to use Kevlar cord but I only need one piece, I don't need a whole roll, does anyone sell separate pieces like that?
