ABL RS1 (Dec. 6 firing)
Hello All,
ABL Space Systems' RS1 is now scheduled for December 6 at 3:00 PM AKST (see: https://www.spacelaunchschedule.com...-maiden-flight/ ); Space Launch Schedule's clock is running at 14 days, 12 hours, 50 minutes, "and change." (Incidentally, Pioneer 3 was launched on December 6, 1958 [see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pioneer_3 ].) Also: RS1's first stage engines actually lit up at ignition, but immediately shut down (see: https://www.space.com/abl-space-sys...t-monday-nov-21 and https://parabolicarc.com/2022/11/21...s-second-abort/ ). The two-week postponement will be used to check out the entire vehicle and make certain they understand all details of the problem, and have corrected them. El Segundo, California-based ABL Space Systems' (see: https://ablspacesystems.com/ ) RS1 launch vehicle and its GSE--Ground Support Equipment--are all designed to be easily truck shipping container-transportable and to operate at a bare, flat launch pad, so moving them between El Segundo and the PSCA on Kodiak island--and vice-versa--is not a difficult operation.
