Matt Steele (of NCR fame) is again listing a number of vintage kits on ebay. Presumably, these are a continuation of sales of the Jonathan Dunbar collection. It seems sales of those kits on eBay has been on 'hold' for a while (my impression) and are now resuming. Possible too these are not from Jonathan's collection. Maybe Matt can chime in at some point and clarify one way or the other. A fair amount of vintage Estes kits at this point.

Earl,

You are correct. Matt just held another "Jonathan weekend" at his house where a small group of Jonathan's friends open tubs, photograph and pack the items. Some truly amazing items again. Lots of rare, pristine, yellow-tag kits this time.

And by the way, I think you would look fantastic in the Superman Inflato-Suit.

Yeah, that would be about the ONLY way I could 'bulk up' like the Man of Steel!

So, how many more 'tubs' of kits are there to go...any idea?

Lots and lots. Jonathan was a huge collector. All kinds of things. Kits, Rocketry historical items, built kits, photos, paintings, RC airplanes, Game cards, etc., etc., etc.

Items with clear historical value are being set aside for the Museum of Flight or the Estes Company.

Listing Jonathan's items has been rewarding, but hugely time-consuming. I think it has turned out bo be way more effort than most of us suspected at the outset.

I sure wish he would list some of the better items in Jonathan's hoard instead of what has been listed so far.
Most of what has been auctioned from that collection has been old, but rather boring.

Yes, there is such a thing as NORMAL
, if you have to ask what is "NORMAL" , you probably aren't !

Failure may not be an OPTION, but it is ALWAYS a POSSIBILITY.

Oh, there have been some very nice items for sure. Of course, what one is interested in or would want to collect will vary from person to person. Personally, I have picked up several kits over the past couple years from these sales, including (but not limited to) an Enerjet Egg Crate and a shrink-wrapped 1/45 Centuri Little Joe II.

A number of the Estes kits currently listed looked to be in very, very nice condition.

Ok, thanks Steve. Yes, I can only imagine that the ‘full’ effort to sort through and sell all these kits has to have been a huge undertaking. But, an enormous honoring of Jonathan and the person he was.

This looks to be a decent deal on an original Centuri 1/45 scale Little Joe II at $92 plus shipping. Lister says it has ‘been started’, but the only thing I can really make out is the wrap around the escape motor tube. Not sure what the interior of the main body tube looks like, i.e., whether the stuff tube has been installed.

Anyway, for someone who always wanted one of these and never got one, not a bad one to start with.

I figured it would not last long at that price. Maybe someone here got it. I didn’t need it and was hoping to pass a good deal on to another YORFer.
