eRocket (NEW) Dr Zooch Saturn V kit
Just received the new eRocket Dr. Zooch Saturn V kit today.
It comes in the white box. The instructions and wrap page are the same. One thing I noticed was the paper the wraps are printed on felt smoother than the original wraps that used to come with the kits. The big thing is the laser cut fins. I like anything laser cut. The BT-60 tube was brown instead of white. The parachute is real and not a trach bag. So I feel it's a pretty nice kit and great to have available again. There is one part in the kit I'm not sure why or what it is there for. It is the small metal washer. I glanced over the instructions and didn't see anything about the metal washer. If anyone figures this please post it here. Like I said it is nice to have this kit around again. Oh, by the way, for those of you who are like me and hate to make those engines here's a place to get 3D printed engines for this kit. https://www.shapeways.com/product/3...=more-from-shop |

I've had several kits over the years that came with a steel washer. It was always for nose weight and retained by the screw eye.

I think the reason mole is asking is because the Zooch shroud fairing/nose cone is pre-weighted for nose ballast (drilled and filled with shot, then plugged with CWF). I'm guessing that the "new, improved" version may not have a pre-weighted fairing, or may not be weighted enough. An email to Randy at erockets should clear things up.

Okay, I checked my recent order. It was parts for a second Sat. V since I already have the instructions. The LEM fairing/CM is drilled and pre-weighted. But they also included a washer that I had not ordered. No addendum, if this was for extra weight that is necessary you would've thought that they would put in an addendum, right? Anyway, mole, let us know what you find out from Randy. I would like to know as well. Cheers.

I'm glad to see you found a washer in your BARGeezer. I'm sending an email off to Randy tonight. Let you know what I find out.

I got a reply from Randy.
Randy Boadway <erockets@rocketmail.com> To: Frank Jul 16 at 9:08 PM Frank, we are finding in test flights some unstable situations. Please glue the washer in as high in the model as possible. We are updating the instructions now. The 1st 50 kits do not have these instructions. |

Thanks mole! Good to know. Sheesh, how hard would it have been to open up those 50 boxes and throw in a slip of paper? Laters.

If it were my business, I would take care of something like that on the spot. Instead of creating a situation like mole experienced. And presumably 49 others.
