Default fragile Sandman decal question

I'm concerned that old decals I have may not be as strong or be problematic with soaking and applying them. I thought I had read years ago that there was something to buy that would help. Can you help?

Microscale Liquid Decal Film is what I use to strengthen decals. I've used it on home-printed Inkjet decals, as well as older kit decals. I've had some very old decals (50 years) that it didn't sufficiently strengthen, so YMMV.

ditto - brush some of the liquid decal film on. I've used 2-3 coats to try to save a decal.

+2 to using Micro Scale Liquid Decal Film. I use the stuff often. Also, if an old, fossilized decal just won?t adhere to the painted surface that I?m applying it to, I?ll first brush some liquid decal film onto the painted surface and then lay the decal. Be quick though, the stuff dries VERY fast.

Another way to make an old, fossilized decal lay down is to brush the painted surface with acrylic floor polish and then lay the decal. The floor polish will give you a LITTLE more positioning time than the liquid decal film.
