Extremely Rare Vintage Cox Model Rocketry 1970 International Catalog
Just recently, I discovered and acquired an extremely rare, early vintage Cox Model Rocketry 1970 International Catalog. Before a few weeks ago, I never knew it existed.
Perhaps some of you may have seen this Cox Model Rocketry International Catalog before somewhere, but this is a publication that I had never seen before in all my years of being involved in Model Rocketry. This publication was printed in what appears to be January of 1970 by the L.M. Cox Manufacturing Co. Inc., and it even includes published text in five different languages: English, Italian, German, Spanish and French! This Cox Model Rocketry International Catalog definitely pre-dates the USA domestic Cox Model Rocketry Catalog from the L.M. Cox Manufacturing Company: http://www.ninfinger.org/rockets/ca...2/72coxcat.html The 1970 Cox Model Rocketry International Catalog has no published kit numbers or published prices included in the catalog, but it likely had an enclosed price list/order form which I did not find with the catalog. However, the 1970 Cox Model Rocketry International Catalog does include enthusiastic descriptions, colorful illustrations, color action photos, detailed line drawings of some components, and a Cox Model Rocketry Safety Code. The 1970 Cox Model Rocketry International Catalog dimensions are 8 1/2" wide x 5 1/2" tall and includes 12 pages. Interestingly enough, the 1970 Cox Model Rocketry International Catalog does show, on page 5, a clear top view image and description of the Dyna-Soar glider, which was never produced for circulation. Images of the 1970 Cox Model Rocketry International Catalog are attached below for your reading enjoyment. Due to YORF 3Mb posting limit, it will be necessary to do several postings to show all the pages. Hope you enjoy seeing the catalog as much as I did. I am also sending a digital copy of the 1970 Cox Model Rocketry International Catalog to Sven Knudson for posting on his ningfinger.org model rocketry site. Here are the 1970 Cox Model Rocketry International Catalog pages 1-3. Kind regards, Jeff Jenkins aka: Faithwalker NAR #46879 SR Last edited by Faithwalker : 02-11-2022 at 12:27 AM. |

I think I saw this one on eBay here a couple weeks back. I clicked on the listing and looked at is some but did not bid. Glad you snagged it...if in fact this is the same one.
Thanks for sharing! Earl

You're very welcome! Happy to share this rare item with my Model Rocketry friends! Yes, it is most likely the same one you saw. It shipped from St.Louis, Alsace, France. Kind regards, Jeff Jenkins aka: Faithwalker NAR #46879 SR |

Thanks for posting.
Most interesting to see something "new" from the early era.

Thanks so much for posting this.
I wonder if this might have been a limited circulation item meant for trade shows and dealers. Seems too fancy for a catalog for the masses (and I never saw one). When I got into the hobby for real, about March 1970, I started with MPC, but also got some of the Cox models. I had the Nike-Zeus, Honest John, Saturn-IB, and maybe the Little Joe-II (The Centuri 1/100 Little Joe-II kit was my 5th model, first with balsa fins). I also had the Cox launch pad with controller. And the MPC pad & controller. My first 20 model rockets had an amazingly small % of Estes. Because I could get MPC and Cox close to home at K-Mart, and the closest hobby shop only had Centuri. The one that had Estes was way across town, an hour round trip, and I hated mail order. But I finally started getting Estes kits and engines.
