Do you remember my first post in this thread?

Well, the temperature finally dropped a bit but the humidity drop is down to a much more reasonable point. No paint blushing!

I wanted yellow paint and my local Ace Hardware had Rustolium paint on sale.

I’m impressed with it.

I filled and sanded as well as primed and painted with the cone on the lathe.
Everyone should have a lathe.

So TADA!

The rocket body gets painted next.

To go along with my COVID lockdown projects I have finished my three engine cluster Sprint and finally finished my upscale Colonial Viper.
The Sprint uses the big yellow nose cone.
Gord
The yardstick is for scale size. BIGG!!

I still have a few more in the que.

Wish I could go to NARAM alas, my car is too old and replacements are hard to come by.

I’ve thought of that but…
Have you seen what the cost of rental cars is?

Plus availability and the cost of the hotel.

Finally at 73 years old I don’t think I could drive for seven or eight house.

My butt is sore just thinking about it.

I have a feeling the cost would be very high.

Hi Gordon, are you still doing custom turnings? I have some 1x6x18 inch balsa planks that might want to turn into something. It would be a glue-up obviously. Haven’t figured out an idea yet.

BTW I’m currently building your 24mm Nike-Hercules kit.

Cheers!

Be sure to post pics of the build.

Yes, I am still turning cones! More than I thought I would.

I have lots of balsa but it’s not cheap any more.

A 4” nose cone 12” long uses $27.00 worth, (my cost),of wood!

Yes, the Nike-Hercules build is slow going, but that is typical for me anyway.

I was looking ahead to a couple scale projects, a 4 inch Pershing 1a and/or Astrobee 1500. The Pershing is straightforward, but I haven’t figured the scale details for something like the Astrobee. I already have your balsa BT-80 version of the Pershing. Hoping to have that one built by next spring.
