Linaeus Gigantus (AVI)
Oooooh, look what I found!
I thought I had sold the AVI catalog, and the "Gold Line" documentation. I think I scanned in the latter; it might even be posted here. (Yes it is, here: http://www.oldrocketplans.com/pubs/.../avi_motors.htm) The 1976 catalog is scanned in and posted here too!

I scanned in the Linaeus Gigantus kit instructions.
This was one of the very few AVI kits which was not vaporware. It used MPC vintage parts, with nothing "new" except the stickers and the launch lug standoff (a piece of balsa). Yes, I had this kit! I don't recall if I flew it. I probably did. It was hard to transport, and got kinked. I used the parts for other models. Some of the battered scraps of MPC vintage tubing I have is from the kit. If you have Quest parts, you can make a pretty close clone of the model. You could make the design more practical by using a couple of engine hooks to make a locking mechanism between an upper and lower section. The instruction format was really odd. I had to scan it in chunks. And the chunks are large enough to require mailing! I'll go take care of that.

Why would you need to make it lock between the upper and lower section? I would just use that as my separation point, myself. That is unless you want it to "glide" back down.

I was proposing a separation point for portability purposes, not on ejection.
About halfway down, between two of the T-20 body tubes. Maintain the original nose-blow glide recovery. Except for the swept-fin T-20 fin unit (there's a clipped delta unit) Quest has the parts to clone this model.

In that case, wrap the tube ends with Trim Monokote and use either another piece of Trim Monokote or electrical tape to fasten the tubes together for fight. I still have the Cobra-1500 that I built back before I went into the Air Force. If it is built per instructions, Cobra-1500 is also difficult to transport in many cars. (54" of BT-55 in one piece).
