You are correct not all surfaces are curved, most of the body is a taper after the war head location.

Plan on doing both of the paint schemes he supplies.

I have a lot of very detailed photo's, too. They would be helpful in getting the Color scheme worked out and showing surface detail.

Your choice . . .

Hi Dave,

Ok, once ready to work on the paint, probably check out what you have. Pretty basic paint for the ones in the booklet.

Thank you for your offer of help.

Peter,

Have several of your books. Love them all. Really enjoyed the booklet on paint schemes for the V2. Would love to see a companion booklet for the Honest John. There are so many paint options. Take my money!

Not going to give it a whole book, but it's in 14 US Army Missiles of the Cold War, and might be expanded in a revised edition.

I am really tempted, however, to do a booklet on roadside missiles. There are a bunch or Honest Johns, Nikes, and other missiles on display in parks, outside schools, VFW halls, and other public places, and they often have really colorful non-standard schemes.

Peter-
A book on "Roadside Missiles" would be awesome !
I know I would buy a copy.

The last I was there, an "Ajax" section (top stage) of a Nike Ajax, was on display at the Grayling, Mi. VFW post.

Peter,

Just so you know, the Nike Hercules in front of the VFW hall in Brown City, Michigan is gone. I am trying to find out what happened to it. I hope it wasn’t scrapped.

Oh, and it is no longer a VFW hall. It’s a community center.

I guess a Nike Hercules in red, white and blue is inappropriate in front of a community center.

Ther is a great pair of, I think, Tartars in front of a VFW hall along M-46 in the middle of the state.

I think a red, white, and blue Nike Hercules IS appropriate ANYWHERE and EVERYWHERE !

Where do I send the money again? If you were a band I’m afraid I’d be a groupie.

The last time I saw it was a few years back...it was looking pretty sad.
There wasn’t much paint left.
