Vintage Estes Kadet Build
Turning onto the next page in 1979 is the Kadet. Another plastic nose and fin rocket, shouldn't take too long. I will leave the plastic black and paint the Bt. glossy white.

Those Kadets fly REALLY well on Aerotech 18mm SU D engines.

The Kadet was the second rocket that I ever built, but the first one that I ever flew.

I had fun building an Alpha III that my parents found at a garage sale.
I went insane on the finish. Filled in the spiral seam, primed and sanded, sprayed and compounded. I wet-sanded and buffed the plastic parts, taking out seams and nibs and such. Then I painted them! A nice cherry red. |

I was able to repair the Bt. but you can still see a little deformity down by the fin can. Another fun and easy build, can't wait to fly her.

That is screaming for a fire-and-forget flight on a SU Aerotech 18mm D21-7T or D10-7W !
Ought to hit 2500' easy.

Bingo.........I fly my vintage builds with the designed recovery system with no modifications, so I try to use the smallest engine. To date, I have not lost a vintage rocket.
