No, I didn't mean to imply that it was. I just meant that it was a decent photo of the SM/CM where the lighting was fairly uniform over both modules. Sometimes it is hard to tell exactly what a surface's characteristics are from an isolated photograph. But in this one it seems pretty clear. One would not have wanted to take that photo on Apollo 13 |

I will go with the silver metallic.
The chrome mylar and chrome do seem a bit bright. Now understand what is involved in doing a decal drawing. This decal requires 4 (four) pages of overlay! Page one is a white undercoat for anything that on the final decal that has color (including gray) and white. Page 2 is the white topcoat for anything that is all white. Page 3 is the silver layer. Page 4 is the color and black. Even after I redid the drawing and pasted it into Corel it still took another 6 hours in Corel to get the decal ready to print. I have a full 8 hours into this drawing and I haven't printed one yet! Now I have to print a test page. Wish me luck.

I just started the post with that because I figured somebody would say it was 13. I figured it would save me from having to point it out later.

I thought about that after I posted. Nitric acid and hydrazine are pretty nasty regardless of how hot the exhaust might be. IIRC, they have a rusty colored cloud in large rockets like the Titan II, which might be enough to discolor the metal by itself.

I have it printed and I'm real pleased!
I'll go and post it on my web site under "Scale". I can do it in either silver or chrome but the silver looks really good. BTW, I printed it on my old Alps printer and there are lines in the decals but...they seem to match scale panel lines so... in the words of Pee Wee Herman, "I meant to do that." I like it!

I now have the Apollo Service Module Wraps up on my web site.
They are in the "Scale" section and available in silver or chrome!
