Enerjet tube question
Comrades:
I am aware of the great love of all things Enerjet on this site. And I did go back and look first before asking so here goes: how long was the engine mount tube in a Nike-Ram and how long was the engine mount tube in a 1340? If someone has an original kit and would measure that would be great. Amazingly, all of the other tube sizes are in the archived postings. Thanks.

I don't have anything to measure, but I seem to remember the MT's being 6'' long. Maybe just because that's what I've always used in my clones... Sean

My Nike Ram kit is a little hard to get to and I have several other Enerjet kits, but my impression is that all Enerjet kits had the same length motor tube. The one that might have been shorter is the Nike Smoke, which only went up to E power; in other words, no F motor was recommended for that kit, so it might have had a shorter ‘E length’ motor tube.
Otherwise, one would insert a short spacer for flying E motors in the other kits, as the motor tube length was sized for the F motor. Earl Edit- Well, I have an Enerjet Nike Smoke kit, but it too is hard to get to, but looking at the kit instructions on line, it DOES show F motors for use in that kit. However, the *catalog page* for the Nike Smoke shows only an E24 as the recommended motor. Looking at the instructions further, the motor tube for that appears to be the same length as the other Enerjet kits. So, I’d say all Enerjet kits used the same length motor tube.

Well, darn.
Earlier today I was digging through stuff looking for a box of books when I came across my boxed Enerjet Nike Ram kit. I didn't think anything of it at the time and went back to looking for a box containing specific books (Note: I didn't find the book box). I'll try to remember to get out the Nike Ram kit at some point.

Wrong on the Nike Smoke not recommending F power.
The bagged one I had and sold listed both the F52 and F67 for power but ONLY with a full 'smoke' payload tube.

Yes, I edited the above post 15 minutes ago to reflect that. As I stated there, the *catalog* shows only an E24 recommended motor, but the instructions show also the F52 and the F67. Earl

Okay.
I went back and opened up my original Enerjet Nike Ram kit box. I measured the 29mm motor mount tube at 5 1/2" long. To verify, I opened my Enerjet Aero Dart kit box and measured it's motor mount tube. It was 5 1/2", also.

Awesome!
Thanks Bob. I had a brainstorm the other night and figured out how to do the faceted fins, so now I have two Nike-Rams which I can finish up tonight!

Aren't the Estes tubes of the same ID/OD 6" long?
I was talking to someone today that does not follow Estes closely anymore and was surprised they came out with 29mm motors. They asked if they had the same reliability as Mini-Max, Coaster, and FSI. I of course said no, Estes is a responsible company that wants to sell more motors than kits. Jerry |
