ARGGHHHH!

My Maxi Centaur is painted, and waiting for wet sanding and polishing.

Things are far enough along to think about trim.

If you look at the first post in this thread, you'll see a catalog page with the paint and trim job I'm shooting for.

I'm ARGHHHing over that checkerboard pattern band up front.

SOMEWHERE in my shop is a sheet of Trim Monokote with yellow and black checkerboard that would be perfect, but I can't find it.

I am fairly sure I didn't use up the whole sheet. As far as I know I only used it on one other model, a "Mark II" Aero-Dart.

I have some other "missing" decal/trim material. Time to tear apart another part of the shop looking for it. ARGHHH!

Been there. In fact, I was there on Saturday. I didn't find what I was looking for, but I did find the Semroc Lil Ivan fin patterns that I sent to Scorr for upload.

After a visit to the FLHS, where I learned that Monokote is pretty much gone and Trim Monokote is vanishing rapidly, I returned home and dug around a few more minutes.

Behind the little shelf where I keep bins of construction supplies I found a plastic folder full of decals, Contact paper, and . . . the exact black-on-yellow checkerboard Trim Monokote I was looking for!

And the checkerboard pattern almost exactly fits around the circumference of the tube I used, without a gap or overlap.

I wish I could have had similar success. I have a complete semi-vintage Estes kit that's been open that I'm planning to see if RocketRohde is interested in building. I built one several years ago, but had to open the second kit when the decals became among the missing. I was looking for them yesterday, but had no luck.

Done finishing the 80% upscale Centuri Centaur.

I still need to drill the staging vent holes in the booster. I might relocate them; as currently planned they would shoot hot gas right at the trailing edge of the upper stage fins.
