A short update to this thread as my Golden Scout has become an even more personal item in my fleet.

Many special thanks go out to Bill Simon and Ken Montanye!

Funny, I hadn't noticed this thread before.
Here are #s 171, 172 and 173 flying A8-3s at the Vikings (NAR 203) launch on July 20th.
The one on the right does have airfoiled fins, but I think it had a jump on the others. It definately went highest.

How did I miss this thread?

First flight:
Flight report Golden Scout # 0830 08/30/08

4 MMX II Cluster

From Infocentral .com
Total Newtons
0.8Newtons-Seconds
Total Pounds of Thrust
0.1797752808988764 LBS
Size of Combined Motors
64% of a 1/2A Motor

Work out very well the second time. First try only 3 motors lit. Second time all four, very nice. I made a slider- motor cluster holder out of one of those "motor Spacers" that come in some kits.

Also Launched at NEMROC 08. A8-3, another perfect flight. Almost lost it in the not so tall grass.
Retired now, before I loose it for good.
Going in to a nice shadow box frame with my certificate and that really pretty post marked envelope.
How cool was that?!

This was one of the best rocketry events ever. Huge thanks to all!

It's never too late to post your flight reports and photos of your Golden Scouts. Which reminds me, I need to take my Golden Scouts (maybe one of them, anyway) for some more
launches.....

Ohhhhh Yeeeeeeeaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh!

That has got to be THE perfect color. And, could you share for those of us who may want to build another using THE perfect color?

The finish is Testors clear laquer over Testors Model Master Inca Gold over Top Flite LustreKote white primer. In daylight this colour really pops! I went with a knife-edged fin rather than rounded to make it look more, well, edgy. Thanks for asking.
