Default What's On Display At The Smithsonian

11/06/2007

I have just received the following email directed to me from James David of the Smithsonian.

I am the curator of flying and static display rocket models and trust that I can answer your recent inquiry.

At the present time the museum has the following four hobby models in their boxes on display in one of the two large cases in the Space Hangar at the Udyar-Hazy Center.

Model Products Pioneer 1 (fllying)

Cox Nike-Zeus (flying)

Geobra Hobby-Modell V-2 (static)

R-1 ( flying - Yogoslav-manufacturer )

All four were donated by G. Harry Stine. We have many more models donated by Mr Stine and have plans to display some in a dedicated case in the Space Hanger. Howerver, there are currently no funds to build the case and it is impossible to say when the case will be built.

More drama from the Smithsonian, any model rocket manufacturer out there want to help out with a monetary donation. It seems to me that in all cases, it boils down to bucks........
