E launcher rod size
The Estes E launcher comes with a 1/4" rod. The kit I'm looking at uses a 3 /16th lug. Can I just use a 1/4" lug on the rocket instead of buying a 3 /16th rod?

The 1/4" lug will work fine, it will just be a bit more draggy and 'noticeable' on the rocket than the 3/16" lug, which may or may not matter to you.
But, 3/16" rods or rod stock can be bought fairly easily at Lowe's or some other similar supply store, if you are interested. Earl

The “E” pad with the 3 legs and huge blast plate has holes for both 3/16” and 1/4” rods. If you had a pad that only accepted s 1/4” rod, just wrap the end of the 3/16” rod with tape to make it fit, then clamp it as usual.

Thanks for the replies
I'll look for rods at the hardware store. And I'll check the fit of the 3/16 lug on the 1/4 rod when it comes.

A 3/16" lug will not fit onto a 1/4" rod EVER.
1/4" lugs will sloppily fit onto a 3/16" rod.

Mild steel rod stock from a hardware or home improvement store will rust quickly if not kept indoors.
Stainless steel rods are available online from Grainger or McMaster-Carr. |

It's just hollow fiberglass tubing.

Cheap aluminum arrow shafts work well on 1/4" rods also.
