and...................................voila!
I've hand painted the engine mount cavity in flat black and I've inserted the 24 mm engine mount for these photos. Time for some REALLY GOOD Scotch for this sexy sexagenarian! Good night. Thanks for watching.

Looking good there Jeff! Nice and clean.
By the way, what brand of metallic silver did you use in this? I read in an earlier post on this thread that you called it ‘metallic silver’, but I did not see a brand call out. Care to share? I like that particular ‘silver’ look. Earl

Perfect! Thanks!! Hey, if you by chance want to learn/see more about this rocket, the November, 1980 copy of the NAR mag - called the ‘Model Rocketeer’ magazine back in those days - had an excellent ‘super-scale’ full data article on this rocket. Quite extensive data as I recall, which, for 1980, was quite the layout of a scale data for a rocket. That issue was a VERY thick issue for the mag back then and it had full coverage of the World Model Rocketry Championships held in the US that prior September. I remember pulling that issue out of the mail box and feeling like I had hit the jackpot with THAT much rocketry material to read!! I really cannot hardly believe that has been nearly 40 years ago...man. My issue is buried away in a stack somewhere, but if someone can run down a copy or post a link here, it would probably make good reading on this particulr rocket. I have not read that issue in years myself. Earl

Nice work Jeff, this will be a helpful guide when I get around to building mine. There's a dumpy LHS in Milwaukee that still has some FX "engines" for sale last time I checked. The funky LLs were that shape so they could be used on the MRC rail launcher.

Laphroaig 18 is excellent.
Lagavulin 16 is my standard "drinking" Scotch. A bit pricey, but I'm a quality over quantity consumer. Glenlivet 21 is very good too.

Model Rocketeer Magazine Nov 1980 Trailblazer II data
Quote:
Nice craftsmanship Jeff! Well done! For some additional reference, I was able to scan the attached article from the November 1980 issue of Model Rocketeer magazine on the Trailblazer-II data that Earl mentioned. Thanks Earl! From the description, this vehicle was designed and developed by Atlantic Research for a number of experiments, including meteor simulation research. The upper payload section has written on its side, "METEOR SIMULATION D70-3544", for the round shown in the article. Sorry, the original article was all printed in black and white only, although, the article does provide instructions on how to obtain some color photos, plus, it provides the Federal Standard color reference data. Thankfully, Chris Timm was able to provide some color photo references in post #3 of this thread. Thanks Chris!. Hope this additional data helps. Kind regards, Jeff aka: Faithwalker NAR #46879 SR |
