awesome RARE kit on ebay....
Here is a GREAT one on ebay !
An Original Centuri Mini-Max Hustler, NIB ! It just went over my spending limit though...... I saw an Aero-Dart go for over 900.00 a few years back.... This one is more rare than that....in pristine condition to boot ! The seller does not seem to be a "rocket" person....checked their past sales & saw no rockets. I doubt if they have a clue as to how rare the item they are selling really is. |

Very cool. I suspect that this is a pre-1970s version. It doesn't have a motor mount tube, just a pair of thick balsa centering rings.
If you want to have Hustler for non-collectible purposes, you get everything you need from Semroc . . . except for the transition. That you'd have to have custom turned from BMS. |

Stefanj;
Do you have the actual dimensions for the Hustler (BT lengths, NC, etc) ? Little is shown on Jimz site for dimensions for this one. Also, do you have the dimensions of the 1972 (last, enerjet) version of the Aero-Dart ? I find no info for this Aero-Dart on the web other than pics. Supposedly Semroc is going to bring out the Aero-Dart, but I do not know if this will be the 1972 version I want with the "rounded tip" nose cone or one of the numerous earlier "pointy-nose" variations of this kit. |

My Hustler clone's measurements were based on figures in the 1971 Centuri catalog, with reality checks from Sean Lannan's actual model.
The Ye Olde Rocket plans site should still have my notes on cloning the Hustler and older versions of the Aero-Dart. I was never keen on the 1972 Enerjet version of the Aero-Dart and never looked into copying it. What is known: It uses a 2" tube and I am pretty sure that the nose cone is the one used on the Orion. |

Rats! You guys found it. Apparently there was an Estate Sale around Milwaukee that had a bunch of old hobby stuff that I missed. You'll note a number of old rocketry items got listed a couple days ago from Franklin and Menomonee Falls which are suburbs of Milwaukee. The people listing them are the reseller type with no rocketry knowledge.

"Does Carl have balsa centering rings available, Stefan?"
Nope. Semroc doesn't have rings for the larger tubes they sell. "Yet," I presume. When I cloned a Hustler (and Aero-Dart, and Explorer) I had BMS make up rings for me. Each ring is actually three 1/4" balsa rings glued together. I patterened them after the rings in an original Centuri T-225 motor mount. Per hints from the catalog, the original Hustler had two rings just wide enough for a motor, and a "stop" which was probably a centering ring - like structure with a smaller central hole. No motor tube. |

Stefan, you should write these up for EMRR. Your Avenger review was the one that made me realize what the balsa transition that came in my Designers Special was for. The Avenger was one of my first clones. Do one for the Buddy Lee rocket while you're at it.

The Farside / Farside-X is a pretty common clone.
I was thinking of writing up the entire Aero-Dart cloning program for Sport Rocketry. |
