Bertha and Betty
I’ve always wanted a conjoined cluster …

Hey, Lee, too funny!

Thank you! Someone suggested I put 3x18mm cluster in each tube. I have not glued in the planned 18mm mounts, so I will consider it.

Then it would be an Astron Ranger and a clustered Betty.
The Astron Ranger 3x18 cluster came out WAY before the Big Bertha.

I know, I built an Astron Ranger long before you were ever born.

But... I thought that Betty had three fins and Bertha had four fins, but they both have three fins, wouldn't that make it a Double Betty? Goose |

I thought Goose didn't survive smacking square into that F-14C canopy upon ejection.

It is unclear if Bertha is missing a fin, or Betty has an extra. But, I am treading on thin ice for perhaps being insensitive, so I won’t say much more.

I'd make them each single 24mm.
Much simpler getting a two-motor cluster ignited than 6. I cant imagine wanting to launch with less than 2xC11 power on a rocket this large.

If Lee's talking 3x18 that suggests these are from regular Big Bertha/Big Betty kits so BT-60/40mm tubing.
The Ranger is in the 1963 catalog . Big Bertha first showed up in Model Rocket News as a plan in the spring of 1963, so I don't buy "The Astron Ranger 3x18 cluster came out WAY before the Big Bertha." Of course back then when we were little kids, time did seem to run more slowly....
