IIRC, Vern built the Big Bertha as a demo model to fly at "Cape Estes", the company flying-demo field.

Semroc's Brighton, a scaled up Ranger, is my favorite kit that Carl manufactured.
With the interchangeable engine mounts (4 18mm, 3 24mm, single 24mm and 29mm)
what's not to like?

Have built 2, one more to go when I find a good color scheme.

...and yet the Big Bertha, which started life as a single-engine Ranger as Bob mentions just above, has been in longer continuous production than any other model rocket kit. It first appeared as a plan in MRN in the middle of 1963 and being released as a kit some time in 1965 (I didn't find it as a new product announcement in the MRNs on JimZ's site, but since the Alpha, at K-25, was listed in the December 1965 MRN, the K-23 Big Bertha kit likely was "on the street" by then).

I need to dig out my Ranger clone and give it a flight or three.

....and I've never tried the filler primer that's the real subject of this thread, but it sounds like I won't be able to, now.

Thanks Scigs, I'll have to give it a try. I did try Seymour PBE Filler Primer. It's good, made in the US, and reasonably priced (15 oz / $12), but still not as sandable as the 3M Bondo primer. The UPOL stuff looks pricey, at least on Amazon - where did you obtain it?

UPOL appears to have several different gray sandable primer formulas.

UPOL also sells a U-Pol Products 0791V Grey HIGH#5 Primer -12 oz spray can, and a U-POL Products 0791-A Grey HIGH#5 Primer - 15.2 oz. spray can, but not sure how any of these U-POL products compare.
