Default What happens if you spray paint in the cold?

Its been a long winter on the East Coast, and I have Sooooo many builds and repairs in progress all being held up by lack of suitable painting weather!

I am wondering what would happen if I spray painted at less than recommended temperatures?
Rusto recommends 50+, its been in the 30's here, sometimes low 40's...

I spray paint all winter long (as long as it is a dry day, no snowflakes) sometimes in the 20's and 30's.

Spray a coat, go inside, spray a coat, go inside.

Depending on how cold it is, your rattle can might lose pressure as you paint. They tend to cool down anyway as they lose pressure through spraying, even in summer, so winter weather might increase the effect.

If I'm painting and it's cold in the garage, I will soak the rattle can in a pan of warm water for a while before I shoot.

Paint and Rocket are stored inside over-night. By SWMBO fiat, inside temp is no less than 68 degrees. Mount rocket on wand or other holder. Spray in the cold, cold garage. Immediately return rocket and spray can to inside. Set them up to dry in the spare bathroom. Out-gassing is handled with some Fabreze sprayed away from the rocket (don't let it get on the wet paint). Close the door.

Repeat for each coat.

Total time in the cold for paint and rocket- seconds.

I follow the same method as Doug.
Keep the can warm in a bucket of hot water.
Spray outside and bring rocket right in to out-gas the solvents in my spare room.

I agree . . . Always keep your can warm in the Winter and, if you suffer any out-gassing, do it in the spare room . . . LOL !

Yes, for a while now. Sorry.

I got tired of being gigged by GoDaddy, so I took it down. If I could find the time, and someone was willing to host it, I'd like to put it back up.
