Here is video of the first flight, B6-4 so probably got 425 feet. I was going to use the chute on another rocket so used a swivel which got caught in the shroudlines. Chute was a streamer, but there was surprisingly no damage.

I’ll probably fly this more to see how it lasts but so far it’s better than I expected.

I flew this again today on an A8-3, the delay was a little short but deployment and recovery were perfect. I am posting because today I flew it with the nozzle on. If you recall the nozzle is not used in the kit but I shaved the shoulder down and fiction fit it for display. The nozzle has to be removed to load the motor, then replaced. The nozzle was not damaged, but there was recirculation drawing the exhaust inside it but no adverse effects.

I tried to fly this yesterday on a Q-jet B4, which I thought would be perfect for it. There was no way to get the ejection well extension past the fwd motor hook. Aerotech even made the well smaller after the initial batch to solve the problem. I thought I would mention it because I assume this hook is used in all 18mm kits now, and wonder if anyone else has had the problem with current Q-jets?

Sometimes it takes some finagling. The main thing is to make sure that one of the flats on the ejection charge container is aligned with the hook. It also may be necessary to push the base of the motor opposite the hook toward it to distort the motor tube ever so slightly to get that flat past the upper end.

I haven't found any hook-equipped models that I can't get the post-redesign Q-Jets in but sometimes it takes a little time....

I’ll give it another shot, thanks for the tips.

I resorted to chamfering the edge of the Qjet ejection well to get it in the motor mount. I will be paying attention to the fit of the forward hook in the future and will get in the habit of grinding it down if it is an issue. Anyway, the A3-4 qjet is perfect for this model. The Estes A8-3 ejects on the way up, and this appeared to eject at apogee.

Glad you were able to get it in finally and that the A3-4 worked out for the model.

An A8-5 may be ok too. I'd rather have ejection post-Apogee rather than prior.

, if you have to ask what is "NORMAL" , you probably aren't !

Failure may not be an OPTION, but it is ALWAYS a POSSIBILITY.
ALL systems are GO for MAYHEM, CHAOS, and HAVOC !

I agree that would be great, but I can get bulk packs of A3-4s dirt cheap but not A8-5s.

And I still can’t get over the coolness factor of flying a composite A. Coolest thing since sliced bread.

Regaling y’all with tales of this $5 rocket. Champherd the end of a qjet B4-4 today and flew it on another A3 and the B4 before work. Both nice flights, the A3 was perfect again and the B4-4 seemed a little long and did a little tail slide in no wind before ejection. A side note, my battery was nearly dead and wouldn’t light the firstfires so, I switched out the FirstFires for old q2-g2s(a little hard to get in the nozzles), and the motors lit up and flew great.
