Enertek Fin Patterns wanted
Almost all of the Enertek kits appeal to me, back then the larger new mid power kits were an exciting brand new part of the hobby and seemed like simple bold and clean graphics set them apart. Enertek never produced anything, but several of the designs were produced later in different scales, most obviously the Initiator and Strong Arm by Aerotech, along with the Mantis Pad. The kits were to be produced in 2”, 2.5” and 3.5” diameters. I have never seen a 3.5 inch airframe, but Estes is selling 2.5 inch and 2” tubes, transitions and nosecones so very close clones could be made of the kits in those sizes, and if Estes stops, the Aerotech 1.9” and 2.6” tubes are close.
The kits in 2” and 2.5” sizes that no other company did yet were: Aero Emanon Grand Slam Raven Enertek Catalog Page So if anyone here is from Enertek (Bob?), I was wondering if the prototypes or fin patterns exist and could be posted or provided for a clone? If not, has anyone tried to reproduce them from the catalog pictures? Last edited by 5x7 : 06-20-2020 at 09:53 AM. |

The Enertek Astra 2000 showed up as the smaller Quest Strker AGM in a new decor.
The first picture is the Enertek Astra 2000 The second picture shows my original Quest Striker AGM and the second Striker AGM in the Enertek colors.

Your post reminds me that your blog led me down this whole path in the first place! It is why I didn’t include the Astra 2000, since the blog revealed that Quest had done it. It would be also be harder to clone since it has a boat tail. If I were to Clone the Astra 2000, I would use the quest kit as you did, but I think I would try cutting the Nike Smoke nosecone so it’s not larger than the tube diameter, and attach it to a coupler. |

I have never seen one, it would have been huge at 3.5” diameter and 70”. Very curious about the 3.5” tubes. |

That Nike Cajun would have been a good MPR/HPR one that is not TOO big.

It may have been Bob Sanford that wrote about Enertek making up an Astra 2000 using a FSI Nike Smoke kit for the catalog picture.

Bill Stine wrote in 2009: “Actually, the ENERTEK ASTRA 2000 was designed by Steve Gram. Steve also designed several other Quest kits in the early days like the HL20, Navajo AGM, SuperBird, and Aurora.”
Steve is also identified as the designer of the Raven. Does anyone have contact infor for Steve? Last edited by 5x7 : 06-21-2020 at 10:57 AM. |

Fin drawings were made for the first six kits to be released (Initiator, Grand Slam, Aero, Anvil, Big Thunder (I forget the sixth one)). One of the two prototype Initiators ended up with Paul Hans. I have parts to make one. Paul also has the Astrobee 1500 model. The rest of the models stayed at the Enertek shop with Lee and Betty Piester. I don't know if the models ended up with their collection when it was shipped to the Seattle Museum of Flight.
