I meant the number....first xxx kits are numbered for collectors. Folks seem to like to post what number they have.

I have #10. I sold another kit that was not numbered.

I have #21, so apparently Chas is twice as cool as me.

It's interesting how Carl numbered kits. At first when the company was reborn he sequentially numbered all the kits in a run. After a while, though, he stopped doing that and only numbered the first 30 -50 or so. The only later kit that had a huge number numbered were the 50th anniversary Golden Scouts. Carl usually kept kits #1 & #2 for himself.

It's funny. I haven't really noticed that low numbered kits really seem to attract significantly higher bids on ebay. It does seem like Semroc kits made by Carl vs. Randy seem to be a bit more attractive. I honestly don't think it's a dis to what Randy is doing but more of a special feeling for how much care Carl put into the kits he made.

Flis also numbered the first 50-100 of each run, at least in the early days. And Jim routinely put kit #1 on ebay as a donation to the NAR. Really a nice thing to do.

Roachwerks also numbered kits. NCR often sells kit #1 on ebay. I've seen some garage manufacturers number kits but they don't seem to attract much attention. And Rocketman tends to run limited editions of kits, like their current small Miss Riley, which they number.

Two things, following on Steve's digression:

First, somehow I have managed to acquire Sky of Gold #0003. It came to me in an eBay or forum member buy for something else—I don't even remember how I got it. I wasn't back in the hobby when these were new so I didn't get it directly from Carl. Anyone want to give me an inflated price for it?

Second, I just received (badly damaged) a Rocketman small Miss Riley kit today. There is no numbering I can find on it/in it. So apparently he's not doing it for this one.

If I ever build mine, I think I will stuff it full of firecrackers as a "tribute" to the turdy ripoff closure of that magazine. 1 flight special with an Aetotech D10 glued in the mount.

Yes, there is such a thing as NORMAL
, if you have to ask what is "NORMAL" , you probably aren't !

Failure may not be an OPTION, but it is ALWAYS a POSSIBILITY.
ALL systems are GO for MAYHEM, CHAOS, and HAVOC !
