Lincoln Logs turn 100 years old!
Lincoln Logs turn 100 turn years old!
I remember playing with them a lot at my grandparents house. Why did I have to grow up?

IIRC Lincoln Logs were created by a relative of Frank Lloyd Wright.
Lincoln Logs were OK, but I preferred Tinker Toys and the Erector Set because they could be motorized.

Our favorite was the Kenner Girder and Panel sets - IIRC we had the Turnpike set too. Never enjoyed Erector and Tinker Toys near as much.

I had a set when I was a small child.

I'm pretty sure I had all four.
Lincoln Logs, Erector set, Girder and Panel set, and Tinkertoys. Had a Riviton set as well. Rivitons I seem to remember being recalled due to idiot children choking on the rubber rivets.

We had them all - Erector Set, Tinker Toys, Lincoln Logs, Panel & Girder, but the one we got the most play value from was American Bricks. Despite the name, we didn't use them to build structures all that often, we used them for creations of our own design, especially spaceships.

I had Lincoln Logs. They smelled funny.
Didn't have Erector sets but I wanted them. Too expensive for us. I got to play with Tinker Toys, but I didn't have them myself. I'm not sure if it was in kindergarten or at a friend's.

I remember Lincoln Logs having a funny "organic chemical" aroma to them.
I'm sure whatever it was, some enviro-whacko namby-pamby weenie has determined it was some "apocalyptic" danger to the planet or carcinogen.

Are Lincoln Logs carcinogen?
What did they use to dye the logs?

I'm sure they were dyed by some chemcal an Enviro-WHACKO would label as bad.
I'd like to see all the Enviro-WHACKOS banned instead of all the banned chemicals and insecticides.
