Default Atlas V launched today

An Atlas V launched two military payloads less than an hour ago, heading to geosync orbit. Video ended before the payload shroud was ejected, probably thanks to national security, so we didn't get to see it stage. It was a nice uneventful launch, eventually into the clouds. I will never like the single SRB configuration. It just makes the thing look ugly.

There are no more single-SRB configurations planned.

The big question is, will Bezos be ready to supply the fart engines for Vulcan when they run out of Atlas V's? I think there are 24 or 25 left.

The plan is to fly Atlas and Vulcan concurrently for a while. Phase Vulcan in, then phase Atlas out.

That's the plan, but the fart engine is way overdue.

Out of curiosity, do you call the Raptor a fart engine too?

Yes, BE-4 is late. But there are always challenges when developing a new vehicle.

It's a "lit fart" engine.
