Conestoga 1, the first private rocket in space on this date in 1982.

A certain rocketry enthusiast in Minnesota claimed on r.m.r. that his 1990's project was the first. I brought up Conestoga 1 and he threatened to sue me if I didn't retract my statement and apologize.
