Default I (finally) Landed A Model Rocket Like SpaceX

But is he going to attempt to do it again?

I'd guess the "meat rocket" will be a hybrid using pressed meat for the fuel grain.

Good for him! I've enjoyed his progress over the last few years.

He said a few more test flights.

He finally discovered that being able to "shut down" the descent motor was essential. He is lucky to have a desert for his proving ground.

A hybrid with a sausage for the fuel grain has been done before.

Very early on, I suggested he use a sliding tubular sleeve for a variable Krushnic effect, but he never went with that. Or a tube with vent windows whose size can be varied with a rotating outer tube.

That was long before he was even talking about thrust control. I pointed out his efforts were pretty much hopeless otherwise because of normal variations between motors.

Bravo, this young man's perseverance and ingenuity are proof that American's can do ANYTHING!
Just stick with it and don't give up. Yes he seams to have a lot of assets he can use to engineer and manufacture his project. But he made good use of these tools and equipment to fulfill his
vision, and kept on trying until he got it right.

He's a very sharp guy who did all of this from ground zero with no formal engineering or technical background I know of:

"My name is Joe Barnard... I studied music production in college..."
