Apollo program rockets.
Apollo program Saturn V.
What happened to Apollo's 1,2,3,5,7,and 9. I just read a story about the most powerful rocket ever built. They don't mention those rockets and I can't remember. I thought Apollo's 7and 9 were training missions.

You can hunt them down in this wiki article or in probably many other Apollo mission summaries on the web. This list goes through the early Saturn 1 missions, then Saturn 1b, and finally Saturn V missions.

Apollo 1 was the ill-fated Saturn 1B pad fire that killed the three astronauts.
Supposedly NASA wanted to change the name from Apollo 1 to something like AS-204 (the designation of the S1B launch vehicle). But they got huge pushback to the effect that not keeping the Apollo 1 designation was an insult to the astronauts, so NASA retained the Apollo 1 designation. Apollo 7 was launched on a Saturn 1B Apollo 9 was launched on a Saturn V and was the test flight of the Lunar Module. |
