Does anybody turn custom transitions anymore?
I'm looking to pick up some TA60-65 transitions. It seems that Bill over at BMS isn't interested in doing any custom (nor anything not on his lists) anymore.

Yes, ironically, Balsa Machining Service is no longer a service for machining balsa. I do understand why, but it is still a shame he does not do that anymore. The late Carl at Semroc would actually make custom balsa parts, then often add them to his list of "Stock" parts (since once he made a computer file for a custom part for his machine to make, then why not?). Anyway, I think Gordon Agnello at Roachwerks still makes custom balsa parts. http://roachwerksmachining.com.istemp.com/ Oh, also check the eRockets site. There are a LOT of old Estes (and Centuri) classic balsa parts that Semroc made. Possibly TA 60-65 is among them, though I did not find it in a brief look. Weird thing is they have BT-50 to 65, and BT-55 to 65, but not BT-60 to 65. http://www.erockets.biz/bt-65/ If Roachwerks can't, then check with eRockets in awhile. But Randy Boadway is still in long term recovery from a bad bout with Covid. I do not know if those running eRockets in his absence would be of much good in deciding whether to add that as a new part or not, instead of waiting for Randy to get back and have awhile to get things back to normal (or whatever passes for normal anymore).

Gordy is pretty much the man right now as far as custom turning. 3D printing is an alternative if you're willing to go that route.

It’s impractical and expensive to rob one from a kit, but the Green Eggs and Olympus egg lofters (the latter is one of the Hobby Lobby exclusives) have a blow-molded plastic 60-65 adapter as part of the kit. Green Eggs’ is yellow, Olympus’ is white.

Bernard, I haven't looked at the Green Eggs, but the Olympus kit has a 65 to 65 adapter. That doesn't quite fit the bill for a Scrambler. The rest of the Olympus kit is very nice though. From the looks of it, better than the Green Eggs component-wise. Stan |

I have built both. The plastic parts in both kits are identical except for the color.

I don't think Gordon/Roachwerks is doing much since COVID struck.
He had a lot of old kits to sell prior to that, but it sounded like his wife put the K.O. to making unnecessary trips to the post office in an old post. I'll still take good old BALSA over 3D printed anything wherever possible.

since China bought out the worldwide market on Balsa, perhaps everything should be 3D printed......Somebody who has the time and means should 3D every Nose Cone, Adapter, Transition, etc into a 3D file and then it will all be there for future rocketeers.... If you can't afford a 3D printer to do it yourself, there are various places online that will do it for you. If somebody knew CAD you can take a 2D image and convert it into a 3D object file that a 3D printer can use..... unfortunately for me that's above my knowledge scale..... I did successfully convert a .pdf file into a 2D .svg file in AutoCad
