Default 29mm Motor Mount

So, I went to the Estes site to maybe get part numbers for 29mm motor mount and, alarm, surprise, they don’t sell one or any parts to aid in making one. That’s strange since they sell rockets that fly on 29mm motors that they make!

Odd. Disappointing.

Grumble. Grumble. Grumble.

The parts supply offerings from Estes have been a “tad incomplete” for years, and especially the PS II parts. Sometimes you could get a body tube, nose cone, and coupler. Often not all three. It usually requires checking back to see if any particular item just happens to arrive back in stock.

As Bill said, “eRockets is your buddy”. I have tended to buy tubes and nose cones from Estes that were used in kits like the Mega Der Red Max (and those are listed again, when I looked them up a few days ago). There have also been pretty good assortment of the 2” and 2.5” parts.
But, I do not recall ever seeing centering rings for PS II, but I make my own. And for motor tubes, I typically use eRockets or BMS.

Yes,

Interesting timing that I would complain about it and the same day an email announcing the parts arrives.

Hmmmm.

I have gotten good results on more than one occasion by contacting Estes customer service, and finding items I asked about added to the web site or changed from out of stock to in stock.

Once, I asked about how I might get a nose cone that's not normally sold as a part outside the kit it's used in, and Denise just sent me one. It looked like it had sat on someone's desk or a conference room table for awhile, but at least I got one.

Denise is awesome.

Just received an email from Estes. The new 29 mm motor mounts come in three sizes to fit BT-60, BT-65 and BT-80 airframes.

BMS offers centering rings for BT-60, 70, 80, and 3” tubes, for use with 29mm motor tubes. They range in price from 30 cents to $1.25. And a 34” 29mm motor tube (T52) is only $5.

FedEx folded my 34” tubes neatly in half despite excellent boxing by BMS.
