Deft Lacquer Sanding Sealer
I think I just found my new sanding sealer. I was at the BORG and was looking for something else, and stumbled upon a quart of Deft Lacquer Sanding Sealer. I believe it was $7.99, but even if it actually cost a little more, this is a LOT of sanding sealer for the money. I tested a balsa cone I just turned on my new lathe (that should be a post by itself), and 3 coats later, it was incredibly smooth. Can says it dries in 30 minutes, but I did sanding and new coats after waiting a full day, mostly because I was not in any real hurry.
After one coat of lacquer primer, it looked very good, and only the faintest of any flaws or imperfections. Certainly no grain to fill. After sanding and spraying a second primer coat, it looks really smooth, maybe ready to paint. I'll follow up with a picture. I may use this on some woodworking projects, but if I were to buy it for model rocketry use only, I think I'd look for a pint. The quart is a huge can, after being accustomed to buying the 4 oz. AeroGloss or SIG bottles.

That`s good to know.I use SIG and those little "expensive" bottles don`t last too long.

I have heard the Deft stuff is very good but have never tried it as I have several Quart and Pint cans of original Pactra Aero Gloss Sanding Sealer and Balsa Fillercoat.
In a couple decades I may need a can.

I used Deft to fill the grain when I refinished my guitar with a nitrocellulose lacquer paint job a few years ago. It works great.

Might have to pick up a can just to try it.
One can NEVER have too much LACQUER/DOPE/organic solvent based Sanding Sealer ! The water-based GARBAGE on the other hand, I have had a small tub of FnF for 10 years and used it twice before deciding it was JUNK.

Well, I guess I'm dumb. I keep trying different combinations and I can't decipher the acronym BORG. My mind just keeps wandering back to 7 of 9.
