Default Another fin sealer question

Can the Aero Gloss be put over Elmer's Fill and Finish?
I don't want any ill affect from putting one on the other.
I have already put two coats of Elmer's Fill and Finish on the fins of my Guardian, and I stopped by the LHS today and picked up the Aero Gloss.
My wife said I was sanding that rocket quite a bit. But I want it to come out nice.

As long as the area is dry you should have no problem.

Lately I've been using a single coat of fill-n-finish and sanding it down, then applying two coats of Sig Sanding Sealer before sanding. The Sig Sanding Sealer is butyrate based.

I can testify that Aerogloss can be safely applied over COMPLETELY dry FNF. I did it on the cone of this 1:25 scale V2.

Hence:

That came out excellent.
I hope I can get the same results, starting with the Guardian.

Thanks. Bear in mind though, I used it only on the nose cone and not on the fins. I used 4 coats of Aerogloss SS on the fins.

The local Micheal's was selling that ceramcoat stuff on sale. $1.50 a bottle. I bought three.

It's odd stuff. More of a sealer than a filler, and water based. Very thin, but hard and hard to sand when dry.

I've only used it once, as a final coating over basswood which has previously had FnF and also coating epoxy in spots.

I'm going to try it on balsa next.

You can get away with applying Aero Gloss, Sig, or Brodak Sanding Sealer over FnF, but none of their other dopes like Balsa Fillercoat or colored dopes.
Do not know why, but all of them BUT Sanding Sealer will cause bubbles/crazing/soupy mess out of the FnF.
That is one of the many reasons I steer clear of FnF; hate the sanding dust mess and hate the incompatibility with dope finishes which I use a LOT.
In the past I used FnF as a FILLER only for large dents in balsa, keeping in mind to finish only with enamel, epoxy, or urethane topcoats. I have since changed to thinned Plastic Wood instead which is solvent based and dope-compatible.
