Default Sonic Boom heard in Northern New England.

A sonic Boom was heard in southern New Hampshire and Massachusetts yesterday.
I was driving in my car so I missed it.
Today, it was to be an earthquake that caused the sonic Boom.
It is as slightly to the SW of my home and fifty miles deep.

I LIIIKE Sonic-BOOMS made by aircraft.
The FAA should just tell those that don't like them "Tough ROXX !", suck it up and deal with it WITHOUT CHANGE.

I have a full-scale pilot buddy that thought a sonic boom was a singular-event that only happens as the aircraft breaks the sonic barrier. I had to explain to him that the boom travels WITH the supersonic aircraft as long as it remains above Mach 1.

Yes, there is such a thing as NORMAL
, if you have to ask what is "NORMAL" , you probably aren't !

Failure may not be an OPTION, but it is ALWAYS a POSSIBILITY.
ALL systems are GO for MAYHEM, CHAOS, and HAVOC !

Back in the late 1990's I used to go to a gun club that was west of COCO Beach.
The time that I was there and the Space Shuttle came in for a landing there where two
sonic booms that where louder and produced more percussion than any thing I have ever witnessed in my life. The Earth Shook !

The bigger the object and the higher the drag, the bigger the sonic boom will be.
The space shuttle is the largest aircraft to be supersonic, hence the mega-boom.

I was able to see one shuttle landing (Columbia) there at the shuttle landing facility at Kennedy in ‘97. We were all standing at the rope barricade they have set up somewhat near the runway, waiting for Columbia to appear overhead.

Of course, we all knew the double sonic booms were the shuttle’s trademark that always herald the shuttle’s arrival, and I had reminded myself *several* times not to “flinch* when the booms hit. Well, it was all to no avail as we ALL jumped! So, even anticipating them, it still was a jolt.

I recall a sonic boom at one of the Black Rock LDRS’s, maybe LDRS-11. We were all standing watching launches one morning when all of a sudden back behind us it sounded like a stick of dynamite went off right over us. In just a few seconds a few fighter jets banked sharply just shy of us and flew back down the lakebed. That was neat.

As it turns out, the experts believe it to be a meteor that exploded causing the sonic Boom.
It was cloudy on Saturday morning, so no one saw it.
The sonic boom was heard in three states.
NH, MA, ME.
They are guessing it is went from SW to NE or vise verser.

I once went out in the middle of the night to watch a shuttle reentry. It is still very high over Dallas that the double boom can be heard, but it was not very loud. The most striking thing was the sparkling vapor trail it left behind. At around a quarter of the sky in length, it reminded me of the Tholian web. I never had another chance to catch it on camera.

The morning that Colombia came over, it was after sunrise so I did not bother going out. I heard it inside the house; instead of the usual double boom, it was more like a prolonged roar.

As the resident meteor expert, this is crap. There is absolutely no reason (other than some joker at NWS talking about things he/she knows nothing about) to think the booms were caused by a fireball. Most sonics are caused by man-made activity.

Yes, deep penetrating fireballs can produce sonics. But there should be other associated phenomena, all of which are absent in this case.
