Exclamation New ORK File -- Centuri Starlifter

This has not been fully "tweaked" for accuracy where the fins are concerned. The fin shapes are identical to the Estes Javelin, and I'm thinking Estes simply recycled the pattern after the merger. Use my laser patterns to get a set.

Tube diameters are accurate (I think), and lengths are guesstimates (the overall length is correct, at least). Uses ST-7 and ST-8.

Length: 17.00"

A8-5......271'
B6-6......525'
C6-7......957'

Dv numbers are not available in the current version of OpenRocket, so I can't tell you based on these simulations how hard the deployment really is. I'll have to follow this up with a few RockSim runs to get the final data. Also, neither 2D nor 3D imagery is available yet. Program's still got a long road to travel.

But, this shows some of what you can do with OpenRocket now.

Enjoy!

After changing the motors to A8-3, B6-4 and C6-5 I get deployment velocities of about 15, 8 and 15 fps (just reading off the plot of the vertical motion vs. time graphs of the flights). With the A and C these are deployments just before apogee, but of course they are also with nominal delays.

Cool. Thank-you.

Here is one of my rockets (I built and flew it first, then made it in Open Rocket)
A very nice flying rocket.

That's not bad. Previous experience with this "class" of design suggested those delays were too long, but without the Dv feedback, I couldn't be sure.

The B6-4 seems to be the 'sweet-spot' engine. A B4-4 might give similar results.

Good call. Deployment about 1/4 second before apogee at about 5 fps.

Here are the 064 and 256 versions (64x64?...256x256?). The 256 appears to be the clearest...
