I had a spare ESAM so I opened the package
I did not split the nose cone / motor shroud.
But all the components weighed in at 82g.

How much does glue and paint typically weigh?

As another test tomorrow I'll take this Crossfire, weigh it down to 82g externally so the parachute deploys and try another launch.

With his build style the paint added nearly a 25% of the rocket’s final weight.

Well 25% is what my numbers are working out to.
I'm surprised Estes' numbers are so far off- 82 grams of parts working out to 87 grams of finished rocket seems ludicrous even if you're not filling wood grain or spirals.
