No, this will pretty much close the book on the band. They had already stopped touring a couple years ago and only wanted to maybe do an album and a special event every now and then.

The band had lineup changes throughout their years from 1964 until the plane crash, so having lineup changes afterwards has not made them a tribute band. Though Ronnie was the main songwriter, the rest contributed throughout the pre-crash years. They have put out more albums since the crash than they did before it, so they weren't just playing the old hits like a tribute band. If you argue that Ronnie was the band, look at ACDC and Pink Floyd who's songwriters and frontmen were replaced and they continued without so much as a whisper that they were now tribute bands. There were drummer and bass changes before their first album in 1973. There was an addition of a 3rd guitarist, Ed King, right before the first album. When Ed quit, the band went for several years with two guitars again. Steve Gaines only joined the band a year or so before the crash. Ricky Medlocke, Bob Burns and Artimus Pyle all played drums at different times before the crash. Keyboardist Billy Powell was a roadie for several years before joining the band for their 1st album. Ricky Medlocke, current guitarist, played drums for them before their first album. All that said, if they decide to do anything more than a few special events going forward, I'd call them a tribute band.

My favorite is their entire library! Sad to hear that Gary has passed now as well. They can finally get the band back together!
