I want to donate a model to the Seattle Museum of Flight.
I've forgotten the name of the guy (and fellow rocketeer) who is involved with the model rocket portion of the Seattle Museum of Flight.
I want to get in touch with him about interest in a model or two. UPDATE - After digging around. I see it's Pat Fitzpatrick (knew the name, just could not think of it). Or at least was, I saw another post he made, looking for a new hire at that museum. I'll contact him.

Which model(s) do you want to donate? Retired contest model, possibly? Yet to be built model? Inquiring minds want to know!
The obvious guess would be a Space Shuttle or LJ II, but who knows what other treasures you have stored away or have yet to build.

The first successful guided model rocket, Sunguidance, in 1988 (My first R&D project win, where I did 95%+ of the work). http://georgesrockets.com/GRP/RandD/Sunguidance.htm And, yes, my 1999 Space Shuttle (NARAM-41 model which also flew WSMC's in 2000 and 2002). I will fly it for the US Team at the WSMC in Austin in July. Assuming it flies OK and is not damaged, I'll probably retire it and donate it. http://georgesrockets.com/GRP/Scale...shuttlehome.htm

I saw it or maybe a prototype at one of the Rocket City Classics in Huntsville at the old airport.

The circuit board developed a fault around 2008 or 2009 and I could not find what went wrong. Did not feel like building a new board (old-school type generic board with 3-hole solder pads and two bus strips, not a custom etched board). But while it did work, it made many sport flights, including at NARAMs. My favorite way to sport fly it was Chad-staged, 30 degrees from vertical, away from the sun. So it would take off, try to pitch vertical (not go ballistic), and shortly after staging the thrust spike gave it the extra speed for it to get to vertical, then continue towards the sun,"lock on" and fly straight at the sun the rest of the way. That flight profile was the most aggressive maneuvering to prove how well it worked. Though IIRC, the 1988 tests were mostly vertical, with maybe a couple mildy away from the sun. Actually I think when I flew it on an overcast day, I did tilt it about 20 degrees, so when it steered to mostly vertical, it proved the system made it fly vertically in overcast, as no 20 degree launch could randomly end up near vertical Here's a video, some of which was used in the 1988 NARAM R&D pesentation, and some 2000's flights with an onboard video camera. Also there is a big "Oops" in 1988, involving a 5-21D. The last flight videoed by Chris Taylor. A FIVE Stage flight. The draggy "tube saucer" used for stage 1 and 2, kept slow and it weathercocked badly. When that dropped away to begin stage 3, it sped up and pitched upwards quickly. Stage 4 was a D12-3. Yes, a 3 second delay. Where incredibly, it coasted to a dead stop, when the 5th stage (E9) ignited. Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I6ZFSSBQNT0&t=1s

Very cool videos, George.
Your May 21, 1988 video was the day I graduated High School many years ago.

Was anything done to the clay cap of the D12-3 to make the delayed staging more reliable? YouTube sometimes makes some good suggestions. Czech out the excellent flight footage in this one... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0FEUffhvFuc Bill
