The Classic Enerjet Nike-Ram. I've been wondering (and occasionally asking) why the company that owned Enerjet all these years wasn't selling the Enerjet models of the 1972-1974 catalogs. I just didn't understand why they wouldn't, and now finally they are.

It's too bad they could not get the diameter and length specs quite right, but the numbers are pretty close. Let's hope the other classic models follow. After all, we're only talking about 5 rockets and 1 glider. After that, they'll have to get into reproducing the Enerjet small commercial sounding rockets as well.

Would really like to see them bring back all the Enerjet kits, especially the Athena.

AeroTech didn't own the Enerjet name until five years ago.

The Centuri ST-13 body tube used in the original Enerjet Nike Ram had an OD of 1.340 inches or 34.04 mm. The NEW Enerjet Nike Ram kit will use tubing 1.378 inches OD or 35 mm. It is a stock size tubing Quest already uses and the size is pretty close.

The Quest 50 mm tubing is 1.97 inches in diameter OD. Somewhat close to Centuri ST-20 at 2.04 inches OD used in other Enerjet kits.

Redesigning past kits to use modern size parts is fairly straightforward. The development of kit instructions and packaging can often be the real driver in all of this.

Bob, can one surmise your mention of current tube sizes that are close to the old Centuri ST-20, that you (or someone….) might be working up revived Enerjet kits that used the that tube size?

Yeah, I know….can neither confirm nor deny, no?

Thanks Steve.

I wasn't 100% focused on what was said during the Forum.

I was watching a stopwatch, checking the chat to see if anyone was posting about any problems, making sure presenters stayed on the subject, etc.

I will have to go back and watch it myself at some point.

Thanks for doing that, Bob. Gary had a very well-prepared presentation, and still barely fit in the 7 minute slot. I think he practiced.

AT has confirmed that the original Nike-Ram packaging will NOT be reproduced, otherwise it would nearly double kit price.

Is the T-35 tubing as stout as the original ST-13 tubing? Not a big deal that it is a hair different in size, as long as the NC and fin shapes are reproduced and scaled appropriately.

When it comes to model rocket companies reproducing classic kits like this, I'm not really a fan of "close enough" and particularly of just reaching for the nearest body tube handy (among those already produced). I don't know the Aerotech model line as well as many of you, I'm sure, but looking at it in detail now I am seeing a large number of mid power D to G 3FNC and 4FNC kits, essentially all in just 2 diameters, 1.9" and 2.6". I rather hope that classic releases like Aero-Dart (2.04") won't be made to fit the existing 1.9", and Nike-Smoke/Athena (1.64") made out of the Quest Big Betty tube (1.575"). There was a tiny company in North Carolina not too long ago that was somehow able to reproduce any and every Centuri/Enerjet body tube dimension (a huge range) necessary for so many classic reissues, in both standard (ST) and heavy (LT), as needed. We scale and clone builders are still benefiting from that wide range of body tube sizes. Unless I'm forgetting some, ST-20, ST-16, and ST-13 would cover (I believe) most or all of the retail Enerjet line of 1972-1974. Apologies if I am not appreciating the full depth of the Quest/Aerotech body tube line, both historical and current, as I do find it much tougher to research details using the available sources (website, catalogs) than others like Estes, Centuri, (old) Enerjet, or current Semroc.

Semroc did us all a wonderful turn of good fortune by reproducing (or having reproduced) all those old vintage tube sizes!

Never thought we’d ever get to see those classic Centuri tubes again until Semroc brought them back. And now, some of them are basically gone again, like the ST-13 and some of the other sizes. I have a decent stock of the Semroc ‘bring back’ tubes and a decent quantity of vintage Centuri tubes. But, we may never see some of those tubes ever brought back again I am afraid.
