Default Rocket Storage Question

Hi guys,

Haven't been here in quite a while. Hope your projects are going great. Didn't know where to post this but I need to put my rocket collection into long term storage. Can anybody recommend boxes or something otherwise long enough to accommodate a rocket? I think my longest is about 30 inches.

Thanks, Chris

Here's one possibility. I use these for the buik of my built model storage. I use the similar, but shorter ones, for kits: https://www.target.com/p/hefty-63qt...646#lnk=sametab

I also use one of these, with thin cloth separators, to carry models to and from large launches on road trips.

That's a pretty cool solution Bernard. I'll have to look into those boxes. Might be just what I need.

Thanks, Chris

I was going to recommend the under bed boxes, but I see that I was beaten to it. :-)

Even though they aren't designed to endure a lot of handling and aren't designed to be stacked, I used several for years to carry rockets and supplies to launches and they worked okay.

Sorry, Roger....

There are a number of under bed boxes from Sterilite and others besides the Hefty ones I linked to, but the Hefty ones are deeper, which is important for some models with large fin spans in particular.

Any issues with fins warping or moving out of alignment with these boxes?

Bunny, it kind of depends on how carefully (or not) the models get stacked/packed in the boxes. I'm much more careful with the road-trip box and packing than I am with the three of these boxes that are full of built models in the house. Since the box can get kind of warm in a dark car with a black interior, this is a concern I try to guard against when traveling.

I have occasionally had models with soft fin-to-body joints have the joints bend over. This is on models that would do this when laid on their sides anyway, in a box or not.

So I guess the short answer is "it is possible."
