Default William Shatner's Estes Video.

Like the title says, William Shatner narrated an Estes video. Think it was around '77.

I had never seen this one, came up on my Google news blarb.

Shatner even participates in the video, when he assists some kids launching a few models. Based on his career profile on IMDB the video might have been shot during a bit of a career lull for him. At one point after the cancellation of Star Trek and his first divorce he was living in a camper van in the San Fernando Valley.

Somewhere in my collection of rocketry odds ‘n’ ends, I have a VHS tape of this video.
I played the video once at a school meeting for a rocketry class. I am not sure any of the kids knew who William Shatner was.

I still have 1 of the 2 high-end Sony VCRs I had in my AV system years ago. I was dubbing some old videos of our kids onto memory sticks, had one VCR sitting on its end as I was shuffling cables, knocked it over, and totally knocked it out of alignment. I considered taking it for repair, then I came to my senses. If I could find anyone to work on it, it would probably have cost a fortune.

You should try aligning it yourself.
I doubt you will make it any worse unless you are mechanically DEclined.

Many years ago I exchanged emails with the producer of this video. Don Gazzaniga was a producer for Paramount (which is how he knew Shatner), and by 1977 was running his own production company which made a kids TV series about "active hobbies". He called in a favor from Shatner, who hosted most of the episodes. The episode on model rocketry featured Don's son and neighborhood friends. He never told me whether Estes contributed to the production in any way, but he did say that they bought the film years later and modified it for sale.

On a side note, in the 90's Gazzaniga was out fishing with a friend and had some kind of cardiac event that should have killed him. He recovered and changed his diet, particularly reducing or eliminating salt. He went on to publish best selling books on salt-free diet, and low salt recipes, and lived until just a couple of years ago at age 85.

I put up Estes videos on my website over 25 years ago. They were digitized from VHS cassettes that I have using simple computer hobby equipment from that time. Quality isn't the best by todays standards.

Maybe their is something else you might not have seen yet: http://leo.nutz.de/Rockets.php?Videos
