U.S. Mail?
I sent a letter to a friend the Thursday before Memorial Day.
He got it today. My friend lives a 150 miles north of me. WTF PO

It had to be sorted, with missing socks from your dryer, in Hazelwood, MO.

I wonder if any of my missing socks are there?

Default If I were to send a letter to my neighbor across the street via U.S. Mail, the letter would take a 250 mile round trip to the Memphis sorting center and back. There is no "local mail" anymore. Everything in all of West TN is transported to and sorted in Memphis for "efficiency". Memphis is notorious for having packages sit around for weeks at a time, and I'm sure regular mail has the same issues. Your letter may have traveled much farther than the 150 miles you'd take if you were visiting your friend.

Same here in N Illinoisy. All the mail from local PO's go to the processing center in orland Park (I think! maybe Chicago) then returned here to get into the local mailboxes. |
