yes, for ten years he was editorial advisor to the student newspaper at Alabama. Since August, he's an instructor at the Journalism school there.

Sheesh.

Cut and run may be an established business method these days. Did you see the Ponzi scheme guy try to get away from the feds by using an underwater scooter the other day? Sounds like he had it all planned out, except he used open circuit scuba instead of a rebreather. They just watched his bubbles and waited for him to surface.

You have any proof that this actually happened? This is really close to slandering a person. I had a subscription and I got every issue that I paid for.

A bunch of us got shafted. I renewed for two years and they promptly went out of business without a single word. He had a presence on YORF and didn't bother to apologize, much less give us a heads up it may fold.

I stand corrected then. I was not aware of this.

If I was to pay for something and it was not delivered, and I paid for it online with either a debit/credit card or Paypal, I would have gotten a refund by disputing it with my bank or Paypal and called it a day. Which I have had to do on a number of occasions, down through the years.

Fly by Night companies in Model Rocketry have been a scourge throughout it's history.

That doesn't make it right, but that's the sad reality.

Launch Magazine never turned a profit and Mark published it because he enjoyed the hobby. When the economy had issues in 2008, Launch Magazine was dropped in order to save his other magazines that were turning a profit. Since most of his other magazines were for high profile leisure items (resorts, vacation services, etc.) those were significantly impacted as well and I'm not sure if they survived in the long run.

Mark should have explained what happened and he had plans on making it an on-line only publication but that never panned out. I don't think refunds were possible as all the subscription funds were long since spent by the time it was decided to stop publication.

I got a few issues out of my 2 year subscription and I even helped with content production on several articles. I don't hold Mark any ill-will but he didn't handle the situation the best way possible.
